Variables: The independent variables in the experiment were:
The speed to ride the bike The length of time to ride the bike What liquids to drink and how much
The dependent variables in this experiment were:
Our heart rates Our temperatures
The constant variable in this experiment was:
How long we rode and how long for
Conclusion/Discussion: We concluded that Diet Coke was the best drink in this test for lowering your heart rate, followed by Powerade, Adams Sport, Mount Franklin Mineral water, Lucozade then Gatorade. We think that the reason sport drinks performed so poorly in this experiment is because they are mainly aimed at restoring the salt levels in your body. As this experiment lasted only a short time this effect could not take place. We think that the caffeine in the Diet Coke was what gave us the energy boost.
